The Pre-School offers a Half –day program for nursery (3-4 years old) and an All-day program for kindergarten and Preparatory students (4-6 years old). It takes into consideration the short attention span of young children and their development patterns. The Nursery group begins at 8:30 A.M. and ends at 12:00 P.M., while the kindergarten and preparatory groups are scheduled from 8:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. 

The program provides children with readiness in reading, language, writing, mathematics, science and health, character education and right conduct, social studies, music and arts, study skills, and physical education. The balance between the formal and informal learning tasks addresses the emotional needs of the young. 


The primary goal of Manila Xiamen International School Lower School department is to instill in young children the love and joy of learning by providing them with an excellent academic program in an atmosphere of warmth and understanding. Within the nurturing environment of our community, the joy and exhilaration of discovery are balanced with the security of routine and trusting, respectful relationships.  The academic program provides numerous learning opportunities in which a child can experience success and satisfaction.  Central to this is the belief that a caring, family atmosphere is crucial to the learning process, and that children learn best when they are actively involved.  MXIS strives to promote excellence in academics and develop each child's sense of accomplishment and self-worth.  The teachers have the dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm to maintain and nourish this excellent program. 

The Lower School Curriculum focuses on the total growth of the developing child, affecting hearts as well as minds and addressing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic welfare. The framework incorporates five essential elements: concepts, skills, attitudes, actions and knowledge. MXIS Lower School Curriculum incorporates a range of assessment, recording and reporting strategies including portfolio assessment.
